I must be sounding tired as this is the second post in a week about nutritional meals that the kids can make themselves. See sushi
blog last Sunday: Maybe it is my lazy side coming out. Upside is that the kids love making their own.
Any how you can buy a packet of tortillas
from any supermarket. You do not need to spend more on the whole kit ie sauces and spice powders as they are not needed and too spicy for kids. Then depending on what is in season use for the middle.
Just like the sushi meal, I organised the bench before the little fingers could finger everything. I put all of the below on little plates and then the kids just took what they wanted (within reason). The only tricky thing was the rolling of the tortilla’s. I found the easiest way was to ensure a quarter of the tortilla did not have filling on it so you could roll them and then fold up the bottom (so everything does not drop out). My three year old needed help with this but my five year old was fine. Although I did prefer to make my own for many reasons!
How to get the kids to make tortilla for dinner
This is what we used:
- Grated carrot
- Grated cheese
- Chopped avocado
- Left over sushi chicken from the other night
- Chopped cucumber
- Sweet chilly sauce for me and hubby
Easy peasy, and the kids love it. It is also a good one for any babysitter to make ( don’t know about you but all our babysitters seem to not know how to cook!). Goes back to that observation that a whole generation has not been taught to cook!. Eyck
PS you have me for another week as our Head Blogger Michelle – Mummy of three little boys is having a lovely holiday, missing her terribly. I have forgotten how much time posts take as these days I just write them every now and again. There are so many other things to do with our growing Munch venture, but loving every minute.
