Munch Cooking is super excited to be hosting the Sweet New Zealand August 2014 challenge. I can’t believe we are now into the 37th month of the Sweet New Zealand monthly blog event created by the very lovely Alessandra Zecchini.
Sweet New Zealand August is an opportunity for all Kiwi bloggers (whether you are living in New Zealand or overseas), as well as for non-Kiwi bloggers living in New Zealand, to connect and share some of those sweet treats from your kitchen.
You can find a round-up of all of last month’s delicious and low carb sweet treats here at Ditch the Carbs.
Sweet New Zealand August
August is already an exciting culinary month here in Wellington, home of Munch Cooking and Kiwi Mummy Blogs (run by Anna Bordignon and Michelle Kitney). We are lucky to have Wellington on a Plate and I thought that we could use this as inspiration for Sweet New Zealand August recipes this month.
For a full list of ingredients that could help you to make something Wellington-inspired check out this list. Don’t feel like you have to use these exact ingredients/brands, just think of it as a list that gives you an idea of what type of ingredients are considered local to Wellington.
Bake Club is a part of Wellington on a Plate, which is a series of baking competitions held as part of the festival. The Cheap Tarts got it off to a bang here in Wellington. Read more here about how you can’t always bake what you want and their first challenge baking week.
Wellington on a Plate aims to raise awareness in the Wellington region’s food industry, and help solidify Wellington’s place as the Cuisine Capital of New Zealand, the festival acts as a platform for a delicious and diverse range of events, programmes and competitions. So with that in mind, why not bake or make something that is Wellington inspired. The menus of Wellington on a Plate often include great local products like Zany Zeus cheeses, and of course Whittaker’s choccy.
